Chelsea Erler
Chelsea was born and raised in Marlborough, CT. She has been riding and showing horses since she was six years old. Her love of horses not only involved riding them but also participating in her local 4-H group, quarter horse association, and judging team. In Connecticut Chelsea worked as an assistant rider at Quarry Town Stables in Portland, CT where she worked with Reining, Western and English show horses. In the Spring of 2010 Chelsea worked as an assistant trainer at Riverside Stables in Cromwell, CT where she worked with colts, and show horses.
Education and ExperienceChelsea is so passionate about learning about horses that she went to Kirkwood Community College where she earned her associates degree in Equine Science. She then continued her education at William Woods University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Equine business and administration. At College she participated in numerous clinics with Richard Shrake and Jeff Griffith.
Chelsea loves to ride all seats but mainly focuses on English and Western seats. Some of her major accomplishments include numerous High Point Championships in AQHA English Equitation, Horsemanship, Trail, Western Riding, and Showmanship. She has competed in Open and A rated shows ranging from Quarter horse, Paints, and Jumping shows. As an instructor, Chelsea focuses on creating a partnership between horse and rider inside and outside of the show arena. “My main goal in being a riding instructor is to educate riders in the proper equitation of the seat. I work so rider and horse complement each other rather than being like oil and water.” |
Jess ErlerJess was born and raised in Reed City, Michigan on his parent’s dairy farm. Ever since he was born, Jess has always been around horses and cows. Yet, it was not until age eleven that Jess found his true passion for horses. At this age Jess adopted his first horse, a mustang. Then, at thirteen he had a great opportunity through his 4-H group to participate in a clinic by horseman Jeff Griffith. After participating in three of Jeff's clinics, Jess realized that he wanted to work with horses and made it his life's work.
“What I want to teach is Horse-Man-Ship, in which the horse and the rider form a partnership and learn together to achieve their goals.” - Jess Erler Education and Experience
Shortly after high school he worked at Wolf Lake Ranch, guiding trail rides. From there Jess went to Kirkwood Community College where he earned his Associates Degree in Equine Science and Technology in the top of his class. He interned with Jeff Griffith in Montana and traveling on Jeff’s clinic route. While working with Jeff, he also had the opportunity to work with other horsemen, Jon Ensign and Jesse Clement. During past summers he worked for the Covered Wagon Ranch, where he guided trail rides, started colts and put on demonstrations.

Now....
They work with horses that may have some bad or learned habits but state, “We're able to help the horse through the problems they may come with, but it is our job to teach the owner how to fix the problem and sometimes that is harder than fixing the horse. An owner must be willing to change their ways to better fit their horse and they have to be willing to learn and understand things from the horses' point of view.”
Jess and Chelsea have been starting colts, riding horses and teaching horsemanship to those who want to learn how to work with their horses at the D bar D Ranch in Chase since 2009. In 2012 - 2015, Cowboy Logic, LLC took over management of the D bar D Ranch arena side of things. And in 2016, Jess and Chelsea purchased 40 acres and moved Cowboy Logic, LLC to its new home. They continue to train horses and give lessons at their new facility.
